They are not made to be cleaned they are disposable but expensive. You can soak it in white vinegar and then run under the facet but it will not filter like it is supposed to it will only allow you to use the water from the fridge it won’t be truly filtered though.
Even if your local municipal water supply is considered "drinkable", it's a good idea to use water filters as it will further purify the drinking water not to mention making it taste better.
