you need the separate water faucet(filter) to have drinking water.
Contact the company you got the system from.
I have Culligan water softener system throughout my home, and a additional faucet was put into my kitchen sink so I can get “drinking” water

If you have a well or hard water you still need the softener. A softener requires salt–a filtration system does not. The two are completely different things.

A filter merely filters the water and removes solids. A softener uses salt and another tank to remove the hardness. To answer your question, yes, you need the softener.
