Best Water Filters & Shopping Tips

I am looking into purchasing counter-top distiller to make drinking water. Please do not leave post on drinking tap water.

1) Could you recommend me a water distiller that is small? Price range $100 ~ $400

2) It seems distillers come with charcoal filters. What are they for? if process distillation removes impurities?

3) Since water distillation removes all essential minerals, are there additives to put in distilled water? (Is Cell Food from Lumina Products, one of them?)

4) Are there any negative aspects in using a counter-top water distiller? The time it takes to make distilled water, taste, and electric bill is not my concern.

5) Does distillation rid of all impurities?

I was thinking of the best way to get drinking water and looking at countertop steam distillers. some thoughts occured I can’t find answers for. what about other things that can steam up and be collected? so it removes all the heavy elements, are there still things like fluoride in it? what about hormones and chemicals from pharma products the water treatment plants can’t remove (estrogen, etc) that end up back in the water supply.

bottom line, what else will be in the water, i dont expect periodic table h2o purity, but if i prefilter with a sink filter before pouring into the distiller what am i looking at? some links please, on what can steam up or be absorbed into the water that remains.

Ok I want to put a filter on my fridge icemaker line, then split it so filtered water goes into my icemaker in the freezer, then a line comes out to the countertop next to the fridge, where there’s no sink. I need a splitter.. and a valve of some sort. Can I do this? What parts do I need
