Pitcher filters, faucet filters, or just plain old bottled water – which works best on a budget?

Faucet Water Filters
DrkLashes asked:

I’m not looking to get into a debate of whether or not tap water in the US is safe or not! Please don’t reply to tell me the water is ok…

I live in central PA and they’re switching their water systems from using chlorine (which I wasn’t thrilled about to begin with) to “chloramine”.. Now all I drink is tap water and because of the medicine I’m on, I drink a LOT of it! We’re also looking into having children and it would be an EXTREMELY high risk pregnancy, so It’s really important to me to have out all excess chemicals as much as possible. (Heck I’m more worried about the chemicals than the bacteria now, thanks to the water company!)

However, we’re also on a budget! What’s the cheapest EFFECTIVE way to filter water- the kind that attaches to a faucet, the pitcher type, or is my best bet to stick with bottled water for drinking instead of playing with filters?

Our tap water is tasting pretty odd. We live in a apartment so we can only install the faucet mount type.

2. Brita Pitchers http://www.brita.com/us/products/water-pitchers/
3. Pur Faucet Filters (Any of the 3)
4. Pur Pitcher

I’m trying to decide between faucet and pitchers, what are the differences, and are there any other reputable brands i should look at?

I’m trying to get a faucet water filter off the faucet. Do I loosen it by going clockwise or counterclockwise?

Faucet Water Filters
calendar girl asked:

I tried using a pipe wrench and going counterclockwise but it is not coming off (tried the other way also). It is plastic and tiny bits are flaking off when I tried to remove. How should I get it off and is turning it counterclockwise the way to loosen it. Thanks.
I know the righty tighty saying. I just can’t visualize it. I want the answer in clockwise/counterclockwise direction terms please.
If it is stuck (or I’m too weak), is there anything that will loosen it. As I said it is plastic and has been on there sometime. They are replacing my sink and I need to get this off.

Even if your local municipal water supply is considered "drinkable", it's a good idea to use water filters as it will further purify the drinking water not to mention making it taste better.
