Faucet Water Filters
gatorade asked:

How effective are these and what are the differences between water filtered through the tap and boiling water?

I know that boiling kills everything. Some filters claim to remove all chemicals but keep flouride, what is that?
Larry L, what the hell are you on about? I don’t understand a thing you said.

Are portable water bottle filters convenient?

Portable Water Filters
Espe asked:

I’ve seen multiple portable water bottle brands that come with an insertable water filter. However, I know that with my water pitcher filter at home, it takes a little bit of time for the water to drip down and filter. Is this the case with these portable bottles as well?

Also, none of these brands state which type of filter they sell/use. Does anyone know which manufacturer sells purified, ceramic, or reverse osmosis filters?

Thanks!

Water filters of the pitcher and faucet installed variety are advertised as being effective in filtering lead,?

If you only bought one, would you buy one of the actual portable water filters or one of the water bottles that filters? They both claim to get 100 gallons? I’m thinking the water bottle would be more convenient, but does anyone have experience with either?

What’s better, water filters that go under your kitchen sink or whole house filters?

whole house water filtration
Mr. Q asked:

I went to Sears and they had individual reverse-osmosis filters for under your kitchen sink that go for $2-300 that take $20 filters changes every 6 months or else they’ve got a central water whole home filtration system that costs $400 but is self-cleaning, does the whole house, and doesnt need changing for over 10 years. I want to have water be drinkable in the house and don’t mind it just coming from the kitchen. But I could see my family and I flaking on changing the filters. But I’m guessing just one at the sink would taste better than one for the entire house.
